Babbel was chosen for the list of the 100 most promising scale-ups in Europe
Viva Technology and GP Bullhound nominated Babbel as one of the “Top 100 Next Unicorns”
According to the 2019, 2020 and 2021 lists, more than 40% of the nominated companies have become unicorns, or reached a potential valuation of USD 1 billion or more, to date
Babbel, the learning platform that creates mutual understanding through language, has been named to Viva Technology and GP Bullhound’s "Top 100 Next Unicorns". This annual list of the 100 most promising scale-ups in Europe was compiled by Viva Technology, the largest startup and tech event in Europe, in partnership with global technology investment bank, GP Bullhound. It was also made possible with the support of Capgemini Ventures, European Innovation Council, White & Case and contributions from five of the world's most reputable investment funds: Accel, Balderton, Eurazeo, Northzone and Partech. This list highlights companies that possess the attributes to reach a potential valuation of USD 1 billion or more in the near future.
Julie Ranty, Managing Director of Viva Technology, said: "Once again, this year’s Top 100 scale-ups list demonstrates the extraordinary potential of European technology. Selecting only 100 potential future unicorns is becoming more and more challenging each year, given the exponential trajectory of European startups between 2021 and 2022. Our mission at Vivatech is to support the emergence of European digital champions. We are delighted that more and more startups are putting sustainability at the heart of their challenges, and their model”.
Arne Schepker, CEO Babbel, says, “We are honored to be listed among this elite group of European digital champions, who are being celebrated for not only their growth potential, but also their potential to have a positive social impact. Last year was a pivotal year for Babbel with the launch of our new LIVE virtual classes, as well as podcast and video lessons that are reaching millions of new users. We also have a committed Impact Team, who is increasingly busy with projects designed to create mutual understanding and embolden our commitment to corporate social responsibility. I am grateful for the teams who are driving this innovative work, scaling Babbel’s offering to serve learners around the world and amplifying our capacity to do good”.
Babbel’s blended language learning platform consists of the Babbel App, grounded in an expert-led learning methodology; Babbel Live virtual classes with qualified teachers; award-winning Babbel Podcasts, downloaded in the millions; and Babbel for Business (B2B) for corporate clients. Babbel believes the future of learning is in variety and guidance, with a human touch. This combination supports learners in achieving their language learning goals and in doing so, fulfills Babbel’s purpose of creating mutual understanding through language.
