  • Babbel.com teaches languages using current events
  • Online courses in seven different languages

Berlin, April 11, 2011 – In May, Düsseldorf will entice thousands of music lovers from around the world to Germany with the Eurovision Song Contest. To help them “sing along” with the competition, Babbel is offering a lesson with useful phrases on a Eurovision theme. Sentences such as “the choreography is bordering on acrobatics”, or “the singer’s clothes are extravagant”, prepare hosts and visitors to use the most up-to-date idioms. This extra course is available immediately in seven languages at http://www.babbel.com/go/eurovision

New and unusual content enliven Babbel's course offerings
Such current themes, like the Eurovision Song Contest, are hard to find in the world of foreign language study. In contrast to traditional learning materials that can only be updated periodically, an online learning system has the necessary flexibility to offer fleeting or unusual content. So in addition to classic Beginner's courses, Grammar, and Refresher exercises, Babbel also has lessons on Spanish and Italian tongue-twisters, city travel, natural disasters and film festivals.

"We're constantly working on new lessons and entire courses. We especially enjoy creating material on current themes, but even with courses like Business English or Grammar we always incorporate a fresh, entertaining style," says Miriam Plieninger, Head Content Editor at Babbel. Her team consists of more than 50 authors, editors, speakers and translators from fourteen different countries.

Babbel offers interactive online courses for Spanish, French, Italian, German, Swedish, Portuguese and English.
