Babbel Offers Innovative Business English Courses

  • Learning material relevant for the office
  • Bilingual online courses for self-directed learners
  • Growing database of open-writing exercise solutions

With six new courses, the learning system Babbel (http://www.babbel.com) presents Business English for bilingual language learners who need to brush up on the language for their job. The themes are based on everyday scenarios in the office, and cover all situations from phoning to writing emails from presentations to communicating in an international team. As the material is specialized, it is directed toward intermediate and advanced learners. Phrases such as "to shelve something", "the meeting is adjourned", or "to wind up a discussion", demonstrate language skills and suggest reliability to co-workers and clients alike. Whether one wants to use modern shorthand like "FYI" or "AFAIK" or simply understand it is discretionary: Despite the rigorousness of Babbel’s courses, there is always a wink toward the fun inherent in learning another language.

The interactive courses are learning, too. Every solution variable entered for open-writing exercises are checked by editors and added to an ever-growing database. This eliminates frustrating false evaluations which so often occur in other learning software.

The amount of learning material in Babbel’s online learning system continues to grow: By February at least six more courses are planned. In the meanwhile, there are also general English courses for grammar, vocabulary and everyday situations. These bilingual English courses are available for speakers of Spanish, French, German, Italian, Swedish and Portuguese, and to access the courses learners should set the language they speak to one other than English

Depending on the subscription, access to all English courses can cost between €8.25 and €14.95 a month. With this unusually low price, Babbel presents itself as a definitive alternative to more expensive software products and engages an entirely new group of users.
