Babbel apps crack the 10 million downloads mark

Berlin 12 June 2013 - The language learning tool Babbel has achieved a record 10 million downloads of its successful apps for mobile language learning. The apps are available in over 190 countries and are especially popular in countries such as Germany, France and the United States. English is the most popular language learned with the Babbel app: The app for learning English represents approximately one third of the apps downloaded. It is followed by the apps for learning Spanish and French.

Babbel Closes $10 Million Series B Funding Round

Berlin, 26 March, 2013 - Babbel, the online learning system for foreign languages, today announced the closing of a series B funding round. Leading the round is Reed Elsevier Ventures. Other investors include Nokia Growth Partners as well as existing investors, IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft via its VC Fonds Technologie Berlin, and Kizoo Technology Ventures. The investment will be used to accelerate international expansion and improve the adaptation to all relevant mobile and online platforms.

Education Startup babbel.com Acquires San Francisco based PlaySay

Eleven New Language Learning Apps for Windows Phone 8

Berlin, March 14, 2013 - Babbel.com, recently awarded at the "Innovate 4 Society Award" by Microsoft at CeBIT, introduces their new language apps for Windows Phone 8. Users of smartphones with Windows 8 can now download apps in the "education" category of the Windows Phone Store for free and learn any of eleven languages. Introduced in October, 2012, the app for Windows 8 tablets and PCs is the most successful educational app in the German Windows Store.
